Centenary....Top day out!

by The Squirrell 26. June 2011 14:24

I am a life member of Bristol Motor Club, which is one of the

oldest motor clubs.

This year we celebrate our 100 year anniversary!

We planned an event, where we wanted to have a car from

EVERY year of the clubs life, and to range from the exotic road

cars, to historic race cars to show visitors a synopsis of motoring

and motorsport in the last 100 years! (& the club put on a nice

champagne reception for members and exhibitors to boot!)

WE MANAGED IT!!

I drove up early to Castle Coomb to help see cars in, and show

entrants where to park. As I watched the wipers scrape the rain

of the Astons windscreen on the way up, and the fog loomed, my

heart sank, at the thought of a lousy day and lots of precious

cars getting soaked?!

HOW WRONG WAS I....It was a glorious day!

(The old Aston Martin and I even enjoyed a few laps of the circuit!!)

All the attendees, visitors, car fanatics, had a great day, and my

new heart has put on some milage! Good job I have an MOT

at QEH booked for next week!! (Maybe I will ask for an oil change to?!)

About Matt.

My name's Matt. I was born with a congenital heart defect which hampered me in my youth, and sadly became a terminal conditon recently, and beyond the (amazing) care of the BRI-Bristol Heart team.

In 2008, my condition deteriorated, to a point I was happy to see Xmas 2008. I had prepared to die.

Then in January 2009, a late night phone call from QEH-Hospital Birmingham changed my world, when they offered me a heart transplant, if I could get there pronto!!

6 months on, after a rocky start, I am still alive, thanks to them!

Read on to see how my new life is taking shape, and my adventures to date!....
