QEH just called.....

I am rejecting my heart. I am GUTTED....

I am not sure what happens now, and how and if QEH can help?

One of my med's has gone up 10 fold as of tomorow, so that can't

be a good sign, and got to start another drug ASAP.

They will call me tomorow when my rejection drug blood test

results are in and I guess we go from there?....WATCH THIS SPACE!

Sorry to hear the bad news my friend but you must try to keep positive thoughts about your recovery. When I was lying in bed paralyzed from the neck down for all that time I never thought that I would stay that way and I always knew that I would walk out of the hospital one day. Today you received bad news and it has to be very hard to accept but you have to remember Matt that you have a lot to live for and a lot of people have faith in your eventual recovery. Starting tomorrow you have to keep envisioning yourself getting better. The power of positive thinking is something that I truly believe in because I swear that it helped me to get to where I am today. Good luck my friend and when you do get better we will meet at your wedding.

Bruce. I am a positive thinker generally, but QEH tell you that transplants WILL reject evenually. Trouble is we don't know if this is "IT" or whether they can help turn the immune system down to stop it killing heart? I have to be optomistic but also realisitic. I have to face the fact this MAY be it for Matt? As well as thinking "Maybe QEH can help me along a bit longer?" Next weeks operation will shed more light, so watch this space! Thanks for comment.

About Matt.

My name's Matt. I was born with a congenital heart defect which hampered me in my youth, and sadly became a terminal conditon recently, and beyond the (amazing) care of the BRI-Bristol Heart team.

In 2008, my condition deteriorated, to a point I was happy to see Xmas 2008. I had prepared to die.

Then in January 2009, a late night phone call from QEH-Hospital Birmingham changed my world, when they offered me a heart transplant, if I could get there pronto!!

6 months on, after a rocky start, I am still alive, thanks to them!

Read on to see how my new life is taking shape, and my adventures to date!....

Matt.
